British Commonwealth Occupation Force Association

The British Commonwealth Occupation Force (BCOF) was formed by the request of General Douglas McArthur and the agreement of the Australian Government led by Ben Chifley,  to ensure that after the surrender of Japan the Arms of the Japanese war makers were destroyed so that war could not break out again while Legally Japan was still at War with Australia.

They were to repatriate the Armies , Navy and Air Forces of Japan 15,000 against Hundreds of Thousands to keep the peace in Japan.

They had to make peace with Millions of Japanese Civilians and restore Law in Japan while the Allies Carried out war trials against the war criminals of Japan and show them the wat to a peaceful existence with the World.

They had help rebuild the country and deal with the Black market controlling the population by stopping organizations like The Yakusa and communists and other War orientated organizations while returning the Korean Workforce back to their own country.

They did this and more while enduring Earthquakes ,Typhoons and Floods , Cholera Epidemics and Diseases. Handling Dangerous Munitions , Chemical Weapons made of Mustard Gas and Lewisite   

They were a mixture of War veterans who had seen their mates killed beside them and young men who many had lost Fathers and Brothers or had seen the results of what they endured in Japanese Prisoner of War Camps. But they were determined not to see the world slip back into war again like Germany did after WW1.

They saw mates killed by Ambush and Accident, which were covered up for the good of the Australian Public by the Government of the Day.

 Often referred to as "The Forgotten Force," in later years, The men preferred to be referred to as what they were , the first Australian Peacekeepers,  The Last Members of the Australian Imperial Force to see serve in WW2.

They returned home to Nothing , no medals no benefits or Securities.
